Bardcore - Who are we?

We are an arts collective of performance poets, musicians and artists. A core of five poets, informally known as “Bardcore”, regularly perform together at events in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas several times a month. The wider collective provides the means for us to diversify into spoken word, art, music and theatre with the necessary technical expertise to back up the performance in a professional and creative manner.

Bardcore have recently been gaining critical and commercial interest and acclaim for the nights we put on in Milton Keynes and for our individual performances in the Midlands and South East. We run two nights in MK - Poetry Kapow! (Open Mic and Slam Competition performance poetry, music and interactive art) and Tongue in Chic (Open Mic and famous performance poet headlining). Our personal styles combined cover the deep and meaningful, philosophical and lyrical, the political and emotional, the urban and visceral, the cerebral and surreal, and comic (from reflective to groan-out-loud corny). We’re currently working on joint pieces combining performance, poetry, percussion and music, due to be showcased in June in Stony as part of the Stony Live! week. Among us are award-winning and commissioned poets and playwrights, classically trained musicians and artists, and all of us experienced performers in a variety of styles, venues, occasions, media, and genres.

We’re hoping to put together a series of recorded samples of our performance work in future but, in the meantime, are more than happy to answer any of your queries in person or via email.

Bardcore are: Danni, Fay, Ian, Mark, and Richard.
